FAQs

What is different about your hormones?

Unlike traditional, one-size-fits-all pharmacy prescriptions, our hormone treatments are fully customized to your unique body. We exclusively use bioidentical hormones—which match your body's natural chemical structure—rather than synthetic alternative

Is there a risk with taking hormones?

For most healthy individuals under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, the benefits generally outweigh the risks, however those with a history of breast/uterine cancer, blood clots, stroke, heart disease, or liver disease should consult a clinician to discuss medical history. All patients must consult a clinician before undergoing treatment

Can I be on them for a long time?

Yes. Modern medical guidelines no longer enforce an arbitrary deadline or 5-year limit"for stopping HRT. Major medical organizations—including The Menopause Society and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists—state that HRT can be used for as long as a person needs it to manage symptoms and maintain quality of life, provided the benefits continue to outweigh the risks.

What is the difference between what Retreat offers and pellet therapy?

Major medical organizations like The Menopause Society and ACOG recommend FDA-approved options (patches, gels, pills) over compounded pellets. Because pellets can't be removed once implanted, high hormone levels can't be easily adjusted. FDA-approved patches and gels provide the same steady, bioidentical hormones with safer, fully adjustable dosing.
